bus:

From Stansted airport: The National Express Airport A6 service runs to to Victoria Coach station and takes approx 1hr 40mins. It stops at Golders green, St.Johns Wood, Baker Street, Marble Arch and Hyde Park Corner. The service runs every 30 minutes, 24 hrs a day.
From Heathrow airport: The National Express Airport service runs from all terminals to London Kings Cross via Kensington, Nottinghill, Bayswater Road, Marble Arch, Marylebone Road, Euston and Russell Square. During the night the N97 bus runs every 30 minutes to central London (Trafalgar Square).
From Gatwick airport: National Express Airport's No. 025 service runs between the Gatwick and Victoria Coach Station. Coaches run approximately hourly and the journey time is 1 hr and 30 minutes.
From Luton airport: Greenline 757 express to London Victoria vis Brent Cross, Baker Street and Marble Arch.

rail:

From Stansted airport: Stansted Express service to London Liverpool Street takes approx. 45 mins. An open return ticket costs £24 (travel within 30 days), children aged 5 to 15 travel half price. Trains depart every 15 or 30 minutes.
From Gatwick airport: Gatwick Express service to London Victoria station, which connects with the Circle, District and Victoria underground lines (approx 30 mins journey time, costs £11 single).
From Heathrow airport: Heathrow Express is the quickest way into central London, non stop to Paddington station. Standard fare is £12 and journey time is 15 to 20 mins. Paddington station connects with Circle, District, Hammersmith and Bakerloo underground lines.
Alternatively you can take the underground (Piccadilly line) straight into Central London from the airport (journey time 45 mins, c. £4)
From Luton airport: A regular shuttle bus links the airport to the train station (5 mins journey time). Thameslink operate regular train services to central London. Journey time to London Kings Cross/ St Pancras is 35 to 45 minutes. Standard single fare is £10.60. Open return fares start at £20.80 (ticket valid for one month.)

taxi:

From Stansted airport: taxis are around £60, with a journey time of approx one hour.
From Heathrow airport: taxis cost approx £40 to £50 with a journey time of approx one hour. Each terminal has a taxi desk.
From Gatwick airport: There are taxi ranks at North and South Terminals. Journey time is approx 1 hr and 30 minutes and costs approx £77.
From Luton airport: There are usually cabs queuing for customers. Journey time is approx 50 minutes.

getting around:

The best way to get around is to use London's famous Underground and Network of bus services. A leaflet called Travelling in London is distributed free of charge by London Transport and will give you all the necessary information on routes, tourist attractions and fares. Daily or weekly travelcards can be purchased that allow unlimited use on the underground and London's buses.

shopping:

Shops are usually open from 9.00am to 5.30pm Monday to Saturday, and many shops now open on Sunday from 11.00am to 5.00pm. In the main shopping areas, Thursday is late night shopping and many stores are open until 10.00pm.
