our opinion: Wonderful Georgian town house hotel with lots of character in the heart of Dublin City Centre. Crystal chandeliers, antique mirrors and a period staircase contribute to the old world charm of the Castle Hotel Dublin. The hotel has a small cosy bar with working fire, breakfast room and a welcoming residents' lounge. The staff, many of whom have been with the hotel for years will ensure you have a pleasant stay. Bedroom size can vary due to the age of the building but the ongoing refurbishment ensures they are kept to a good standard and are very welcoming. Less than five minutes walk to O'Connell Street, famous for it's shopping.

our opinion: Purpose built hotel located less than 2 miles from Dublin Airport and only 20 minutes from Dublin City centre. The Holiday Inn Express Dublin Airport is set in 85 acres of parkland and provides modern, bright and functional accommodation. Bedrooms are decorated with warm red fabrics and light wood furniture; all have air-conditioning and power showers. The complimentary shuttle service to and from the airport makes it a wise choice for those needing a hotel, pre or post flight. Although a limited service hotel, guests have the added bonus of being able to dine at the restaurant or bar at the 4 star Crowne Plaza Northwood which is located next to the hotel.

our opinion: Located just a short drive from Sandyford village, this property is situated in a large complex designed for business meetings and corporate training. There is a LUAS stop (Dublin's new tram) 1km from the property (uphill climb from the city) where a regular service operates to the city centre (journey time of approximately 20 minutes). The contemporary bedrooms offer good facilities and are decorated in light neutral shades with brighter contrasting furnishings. Guests have use of a small in house fitness room. The IMI Residence Dublin offers very good value for money for the leisure traveller prepared to be on the outskirts of the city centre. Although the property has no official star rating, we feel it meets a 3 star standard.

Located in the Dublin 4 area which is home to the new Aviva Stadium and the Royal Dublin Society, the hotel is on a quiet tree lined street but only a 10-15 minute walk to the City centre. Service is key at the property and the small team of staff pride themselves on providing excellent customer service in relaxed surroundings. The complimentary tea, coffee and homemade cookies (very tasty!) are just one of the touches which go towards creating a home from home feeling. our opinion: The Morrison Hotel in Dublin is an elegant contemporary style hotel located on Ormond Quay, just a short stroll from Temple Bar and overlooking the River Liffey. John Rocha was responsible for the interior decor at the Morrison Hotel which has a strong East meets West feel. Everything is feng shui perfect and a feeling of space, relaxation and luxury abounds. Minimalist and Chic style bedrooms manage to maintain an element of warmth. The Morrison Hotel's restaurant is very much in vogue as is the bar.

our opinion: Located opposite Trinity College in an imposing building that used to be the Allied Irish Bank, The Westin Hotel Dublin is a truly impressive hotel offering the highest level of standards and service. All bedrooms have a luxurious feel, the restaurant and Atrium Lounge offer great places to relax and enjoy good food and drink. The now famous Mint Bar, which is housed in the former bank vaults, is popular with locals and guests alike and has an impressive array of cocktails or of course just a Guinness if preferred! A top end hotel in a central location between Grafton Street and Temple Bar, makes for a winning combination. Look out for artwork copies from the Book of Kells in all bedrooms or sample one of Ireland’ most expensive cocktails – served in a Waterford Crystal Glass which you get to take home…a snip at 500 euro!
