bus:

The easiest way to get into the city centre is by bus or taxi. Dublin Airport is approximately eight miles north of the city centre. Aircoach provides a 24 hour transfer service to and from the airport, running every 20 minutes it stops at most of the major hotels, c. 6 Euros one way or 10 Euros return. There is also the Aerlink express bus which runs a regular service from Heuston and Connolly Rail stations, c. 5 Euros one way.

taxi:

A taxi into town will cost between 15 Euros and 20 Euros. Journey time is very dependent on traffic but takes approx 30 mins.

getting around:

The best way to enjoy and get to know Dublin is by foot, but there are plenty of buses around the city centre. For timetables and routes, contact Dublin Bus on 00 353 1 873 4222.
Taxis can work out to be fairly expensive due to the complicated one-way system.

shopping:

Shops are usually opened from 9am to 5.30pm Monday to Saturday, some shops with late opening on Thursday or Friday.

Please note that with effect from 29th March 2004, smoking is banned from the venues - bars, restaurants, nightclubs, all forms of public transport and from public areas in all hotels (although guests will still be permitted to smoke in their individual hotel rooms).

other important information:

Please note that whilst all pubs, clubs and off licences will be closed on Good Friday, all hotels with bars will be open to residents only and will serve alcohol, although some may have service hour restrictions. Most restaurants will open but may not serve alcohol.
